Bodie had just pulled the Capri into a lay-by at Doyle's request.
"Are you sure you don't want to wait?" Bodie asked, "I'm sure we'll be passing a service station or something soon."
"You said that half an hour ago. I need to go now."
"It's pretty dark out." He said, looking out of the car. "There could be lions and tigers and bears."
"Oh my," Doyle finished. He opened the door and was about to get out when Bodie grabbed his arm.
"Wait, I'll come with you."
"Bodie I'm a grown man. I don't need someone to hold my hand."
"I wasn't going to hold your hand, I was going to hold my…"
"Alright come on." Doyle interrupted.
As they were finishing watering the flowers, both R/T's beeped. Doyle zipped up his pants and got to his R/T first.
"4.5."
"Doyle where are you?" The Cow's voice bellowed from the R/T.
"I dunno sir, just outside of London." Doyle replied trying to ignore the silly faces Bodie was pulling.
Just then, a massive explosion occurred throwing both men down onto the grass earth. Doyle became separated from his R/T. He was able to track it down by the Cow's voice shouting from it.
"4.5, 3.7 will one of you answer me please, could one of you tell me what has happened?"
"The Capri just blew up." Doyle said incredulously.
"Are you all right? Where's Bodie?"
"We're both okay." Doyle replied somewhat numbly.
"I'm standing right beside Doyle sir," Bodie cut in, removing the R/T from Doyle's hand. "We'll need someone to pick us up. Why did you call us sir?"
"Oh we heard a rumour that someone might try to kill you both."
"Well it wasn't wrong." Doyle replied, running his fingers through his hair.
"Thanks for the warning sir." After Bodie had signed off he turned to Doyle. "Ray, are you okay?"
"Yeah," he said overcoming the initial shock and allowing a smile to appear on his face. "Good job you got out when you did, or that would have been the last drive in the country you ever took."
"Yeah. Could use a beer right now." Bodie moaned.
"Yeah me too." Doyle added, "Let's hope the Cow doesn't dawdle with the pick up."
"Might be a pub further along."
"We should wait for the Cow." Doyle reminded.
"Yeah but whoever bombed our car may come along to count the pieces, and it's better we weren't in the vicinity. It'll make it much harder for them to find us. You know the golden rule."
"Yeah…"
"Always be unpredictable…" They continued simultaneously, as they started walking along the road.
The End
