He uses nero drugs and a special suit on Scott and Storm to "inhance" their pain so not only do they feel the torture they feed it to Charles too. It was a (I think here) three day torture marathon. (Took the rest of the x-men three days to find out the three of them weren't dead.) So not only did they torture Scott they were also letting Scott watch as they tortured Xavier with Scott's pain.
