------------------------------------------------------
When you saw another who was cold
You ran to them and offered them your coat
When you saw someone walking alone
You ran to them and walked at their side
When you saw someone in tears
You ran to them, wiped away those tears, and held
their hand.
When you saw someone hungry for a kind word
You ran to them and spoke even a simple hello or
offered a smile
When you heard a cry for help
You ran to find its source and offer solace from the
storm
However when you heard God call to you from heaven
You ran too quickly.
You ran too quickly
That you left us behind
You ran too quickly to hear our cries of goodbye
You ran too quickly to hear our cries of praise and
friendship and love
You ran too quickly from your youth
You ran too quickly from your future
However now I think I know why you ran
I think I’m beginning to
understand
You ran quickly to God so he could give you the means
to help others more
So he could give you your wings
Now you can fly to those in pain
Now you can sit on their shoulders and watch over them
silently
You heard all of our goodbyes
You heard all of our cries of praise, friendship, and
love
Everyday I think you fly and touch the hearts of those
who sent those sentiments
I think you hover for just a second and touch them on
the shoulder
So the next time the wind blows and it touches our
cheeks
We will know that it is you, simply
letting your angel wings flutter upon our cheeks for a brief moment.
