Guarding an Angel

As the soft, fresh breeze awakes me from my sleep

I know he has come back, it’s time for us to speak

He loves me and he always will, beyond boundries, beyond sin

He is my guardian angel, that guides me from within

I tell him of my life, I keep nothing from his burning eyes

But it is with love they burn, the love of heaven and the skies

Tonight I tell him of a friend, that always kept on fighting

And freely spoke her mind through the stilled voice of writing

I first told him of her warmth, of the kindness of her soul

My angel told me that those things, would never let her spirit fall

I then told him of her compassion, and her will to help another

My angel told me that the sweet fruits of compassion she would gather

I spoke to him about her caring heart, and about her open mind

My angel told me such light she emanated, she could make one’s eyes go blind

I then kneeled before my angel, and softly whispered at his ear

A wish, I hoped he would fulfill, because I felt her end was near

I begged him to watch over her for one day, just a day

He silently nodded, and the first light took him away

The following night I’m in his arms, we fly above a world that sleeps

I look into the burning liquid of his eyes, I notice that he weeps

“Angel, what is wrong” with concern I asked “Tell me why you’re crying”

“Because, never have I been asked to guard another angel” he said, and kept on flying...
