Mutant XMutant X is a new TV show airing in USA, UK and maybe some other places I don’t know about (Australia maybe?). The story goes like this: Adam worked with Mason Eckhart at Genomex where they unexpectedly made New Mutants through genetic research. Adam feels guilty over this and wants to save and protect his ‘children’; Eckhart does not and want these ‘abnormities’ captured and killed. Eckhart is head of the Genetic Security Agency (GSA). Adam formed Mutant X to protect New Mutants and the strongholds he has built through the Mutant Underground. Adam’s first student was Shalimar Fox, a feral mutant, cat like in her agility. Shalimar’s mix with animal DNA does so that she is very protective about people she cares about, she seems to love her new powers and uses them a lot, she often lets her emotions take control over logic, she has heightened senses and her eyes can turn animal like yellow when she’s threatening someone or using her enhanced vision. She cares deeply for Adam. The next student was Jesse and thereafter followed Emma deLauro who is a telempath (telepathic and emphatic), which means she can pick up on the feelings of the people around her and project emotions on to others. Brannan was taken by the GSA, tortured and forced into helping them but was rescued by Mutant X and accepted (somewhat reluctantly by Adam, openly by Emma who he seems to have a special bond with) into the group. Brennan: A good guy; member of Mutant X. Has the mutant ability of electricity and can shot lighting out of his fingertips. With time his control has grown and he doesn’t need so long ‘recharge’ time, can use his powers to restart a stopped human heart and so on.
Jesse: A good guy; member of Mutant X. Can turn his body solid, like lava or stone so bullets can’t touch him and like a ghost the next moment, going through walls and floors. He can only stay in these states for as long as he can hold his breath or he’ll be trapped in that state forever. So far he has been unable to manipulate objects or other people with him.
Emma: A good guy; member of Mutant X. Can project emotions into the mind of others or pick up on them. She can ease people’s pain but putting their mind in a relaxed state, she can cause people pain by making them ‘feel’ they’re burning alive while in reality they’re fine or similar ‘tricks’.
Shalimar: A good guy; member of Mutant X. Can jump very high, always lands on her feet, is very strong, has heightened senses and her eyes flash yellow when she’s angry or using her enhanced vision. Like all ferals she fears fire very much.
Adam: Founder of Mutant X and apparently human. He’s extremely intelligent and a very quick learner.PastBrennan: No father, raised by mother. Was being told he was bad at following orders since second grade. Stole cars at 10. His past is clouded in mystery but he knows of black ops operations and has done bank jobs. He has never been jailed. He’s a professional thief.Jesse: Father away much as he worked for the government, raised by mother. He thought his father was a good guy but finds he’s just trying to sell valuable information to the highest bidder. Emma: Childhood unknown. Used her abilities for fun while in High School. Shalimar: Childhood unknown. Found by Adam in a near totally feral state. Once named a criminal who hurt her very deeply. He let her take the rap for some stuff he had stolen and hidden at her place. Adam: Childhood unknown. Worked at Genomex for several years. Has a degree from university in genetics or medicine; maybe both. Comparison to X-MenBrennan: is like Logan; wild, untamed, shaky past with a high sense of protectiveness towards those he cares about. Also Remy because of the thief part and reluctance to talk about his past.Jesse: is like Scott; angstful, worries a lot, dutiful, has a strange and close relationship with Adam and is selfless at the borderline to almost killing himself several times. Is like Peter in his stone form ability and like Kitty with his ghostlike abilities. Emma: in her youthfulness and innocence she’s like Kitty. In her abilities and borderline walk with the darker side of herself she’s like Jean’s Dark Phoenix complex. Shalimar: Is like Jean in her mother complex and close relationship with Adam. Is like Betsy in her abilities and joy in hurting those who hurt her loved ones. Is like Logan in her abilities and pack syndrome. Adam: is like Xavier. He used to work with a man who later became his enemy, he founded the team, rarely fights the battles himself but sends his team. He often has hidden agendas and is rarely open and tells everything. Mason Eckhart: is like Magneto when he’s on his ‘kill, kill, psychopathic’ side. Used to be friends with a man who’s now his enemy and believes those he hunt are less than him and that his DNA alone makes him more worthy of life. Also in the pairings are there similarities: Brennan/Jesse= Logan/Scott Emma/Shalimar = any female mentioned above for Emma/any female mentioned above for Shalimar Jesse/Adam= Scott/Xavier. No matter what these two have a special bond. Shalimar/Adam= Jean/Xavier. In the X-men comics Xavier all but admits to being in love with Jean himself and the same tendencies are here. Shalimar/Brennan = Jean/Logan. This pair seems to forever show up. Even though they have gone back and forth for more than 30 years in the comics they’re still a strong pair because neither of them can say no nor decide what they want. In Mutant X their attraction is ore healthy and normal though. Shalimar/Jesse= Jean/Scott. Always there, always present but is it the best choice for them? In this show there’re so close that they’re more like sister/brother. Emma/Jesse= Kitty or Jean/Peter or Scott. The normal pairings, the expected outcome. The same age (as it should be –we’re talking X-men comic only as movie Jean is some 10 years older than Scott-), dedication to the group, a sweetness and innocence over them……..it kind of seems expected. That's gotta come in handy." Brennan - "HEY! Come on, you're not using your X-Ray vision are you?" Jesse - "Emma! Are you ok?" Brennan - "Do I look like the kind of guy who needs to be set up?" Jesse - "Brennan's reading, Shalimar's cleaning up, and Emma...Emma's playing chess by herself and still getting her ass kicked." Shalimar - "Ow!" Jesse - "Who's gonna tell Adam?" Matty - "I wonder why we never hooked up?" Adam - "Look I am no happier about getting into bed with this guy as you ar.." Emma - "Lets get the hell outta here."
