USAGE: Crossing the Bridge
---------------------------------
Stand in front of your alter and say:
"Today I bid farewell to....(name)...
I remember the good times
And the less happy times,
For all life has both pleasant
And unpleasant experiences.
I release the negative,
And hold onto the positive.
I wish....(name)....
A safe journey into the next life."
Put a drop of vinegar on your tongue to represent the sourness you feel when death takes a loved one. Feel free to grieve. When you can cry no more, take a drop of honey and put it on your tongue to remember all the good times you had, and the special spot this person filled in your life.
Light a white candle and say:
"Like the flame of this candle,
The memory of...(name)....
will light up my heart and mind."
Take a small amount of Rue (or other appropriate herb) and sprinkle onto the candle saying:
"As the Rue/herb burns, it takes away
the power of any negative memories
I have of .....(name)....
I will always treasure the good,
and put aside the bane."
Raise your arms upward and say:
"Great Lady and Great Lord,
Give rest and refreshment,
To .....(name)....
That they may be brought into your love
And journey again throught the cauldron of life."
Lower your arms and say:
"Farewell dear...(name).....
My love and blessings take with you,
As you journey to your rest.
May you soon rejoin the dance of life."
