I created this project for the Creations in Miniature group. The group does 3 big projects per year, and this project was the third one for 2005.

I made the tree with wire and covered it with paperclay and acrylic texture paste. The frame was then painted and dry brushed with watercolours, to resemble bark. The foliage is Heki-Flor, a German brand of railroad landscaping. I have used 2 shades of green for the tree. The tree house. I started out with a little house that I've made, including a roof, but it looked out of scale in the tree. So I decided that the tree house should be just a platform, with the tree foliage forming the roof. I aged the strip wood (left over bits of wooden blinds) with paint washes and a wire brush.

I had to make the ladder in two parts, with a landing, because the platform ended up being much higher than I intended.

I lined the sandpit with paper mache, covered with glue and beige terranium sand. I made the buckets from two-part clay and wire.

The tyre swing. I "stole" a tyre from a toy car, and hung it from a branch using linen thread.
